LET'S STAY CONNECTED
I obviously have a thing for metallics, pops of co I obviously have a thing for metallics, pops of color, and stripes I realized when I was unpacking in Nice last week. These elements are my favorite summertime tricks to injecting a bit of creativity into my outfits.

Someone asked me recently how I would describe my style. I said I would describe my style is CLASSIC -CREATIVE with the emphasis on creative.

What that means is the foundation of my outfits is primarily classic but I pull in my creative expression by weaving in hits of metallic, pops of color, stripes and a few other things like play on proportion and silhouettes.

If ever I feel my outfit is too classic, I intentionally throw it off with one or more of these elements.

And, if I feel my outfit has gone too creative I dial it back to a more classic foundation.

Knowing my style and my balance really helps me get dressed easily each day. Especially while traveling.

How would you describe your style? Classic? Natural? Creative? Bohemian? Classic-natural? Classic -Creative?

We rarely are just 1 style archetype but typically are a mixture of a few. Knowing your style archetype and balance is key to feeling confident and effortless each day.

Let me know your style balance in the comments below. I find it really interesting to hear how people describe their style.

You think of the Côté d’Azur and you right awa You think of the Côté d’Azur and you right away think about how relaxing it is to be on the beach and swimming in the Mediterranean Sea.

It is.

But then again, is it? 😂

Home for the next week. ☀️🇫🇷 My husband Home for the next week. ☀️🇫🇷

My husband is competing in the Ironman World Championships in Nice this weekend. It’s all very exciting and all very intense.

Although I have zero competitive inclination I admire these athletes who push themselves far, far beyond anything I can imagine.

Being in Nice isn’t so bad for the IronMates, which is an endearing term for the support team. Our team dwindled because Charles’s brother and wife came down with that DAMN COVID prior to departure. We’re missing our team immensely so I’ll have to be extra loud on race day.

Follow along in stories as he/we prepare for this incredible race on Sunday.

Go Charles Cobbs #1132

SEPTEMBER : transitions September is always a bit SEPTEMBER : transitions

September is always a bittersweet time, in my opinion. It's full of transitions and contradictions.

On some level, you’re sad summer is coming to an end. But on another level, you’re happy to see the heat and the unstructured nature of summer fade away. Adios!

Being in transition or in limbo can be difficult for some people. It feels unsettling and can create an underlying anxiety. But . . . before we know it, we shift into a new routine and are in the swing of everything this new season has to offer.

My advice is to take advantage of each day as it comes and enjoy the rhythm of this month.

As far as your personal style when it comes to transitioning between seasons, the best approach is to WEAR LAYERS.

🧥 Begin with the key pieces from your summer wardrobe as the bass (lightweight tops, skirts, pants, etc)

👢Then, add items from the 2 seasons flanking summer to give yourself a little bit of warmth for when you need it. (blazers, jackets, lightweight sweaters, loafers, etc)

The beauty of layering is the flexibility you have when the weather changes (or in my case, when my internal temp changes).

Transitional dressing is actually my favorite because the cooler weather allows for more creativity – more layers and a greater opportunity to mix textures and silhouettes.

I have curated some transitional pieces for your wardrobe in my SHOPMY shop as well as some items to elevate your beauty routine, lifestyle, and/or interiors.

XO, Hardie

And just like that… I’m an empty nester. The And just like that… I’m an empty nester.

The chickadees have flown the coop. I’m a free bird. I’m in my Second Act.

No more, ‘Did they do their homework? Will they make curfew tonight? No more waking up early to make breakfast. Can you please set the table for family dinner for 5, for 4, for 3. Now it will be for 2.

So many changes and so many emotions!!!

I am so incredibly proud of my 3 birds AND who they are in the world. I really couldn’t be more proud. They are kind. They are honest. And they are good, good humans. That’s all I’ve ever cared about.

Being in this liminal space right now it makes me realize that the job of a parent is pretty incredible. These beings that you care about with all your might every minute of every day for 18+ years all of the sudden go into the world away from you. Like they should. But as a mom it feels like your right arm is missing, multiplied by 3.

What I am learning is that two opposing feelings can be true at the same time. A literal sadness because your in-home job is done. But also feeling so damn excited for them you can’t see straight.

As I fly home across the country today I will vacillate between these emotions and anticipate how quiet the house will be starting tomorrow morning.

But don’t you worry, I’ve got some very exciting plans brewing in the wings. This second act is going to be a good one.

Life is interesting. That’s for sure!!
