The theme this month is about being grateful and then going deeper. It’s about appreciating what you already have and making it more meaningful; more beautiful; more YOU!
One lesson I learned during the past few years is to be grateful for what was already interesting to me. I am a discoverer, an observer who is always on the hunt for more – more info, more ideas, more creativity, more ….
I learned a lot while in lockdown while spending so much time at home without the usual stimulation or distractions. I realized how full my life already was. The hunt has always been fun but it really is kind of superficial. I wasn’t necessarily going deep into the million interesting design books I’ve bought nor using all of the beautiful linen napkins I had to have, to name a few. I just kept wanting the next one.
It took the quiet of the pandemic to teach me that I just needed to be aware of and appreciate the things I’ve already deemed worthy of being in my home and in my life. What a fantastic LESSON!
This lesson has bled into other areas of my life and I think it might be an interesting and more sustainable approach from now on. Below, I have some various ideas of ways to go deeper in your life this beautiful month of MAY.
As far as your PERSONAL STYLE, you have decluttered your closet – specifically your spring/summer wardrobe AND you are pretty happy with your progress. Yay you!!! But, ho hum – now you are not at all excited about what’s left. Does this sound familiar? Here are some ways to GO DEEPER into your STYLE without having to completely re-do your entire look.
MY 5 FAVORITE PERSONAL STYLE TIPS
START WITH THE BASICS
Rearrange your wardrobe into different categories – by color or by item or by activity, etc… Just making a little organizational change can help you look at your wardrobe in an entirely new light.
UP YOUR HANGER GAME
Having a uniform hanger system is really a wonderful way to create a calming closet environment. And, make sure the hangers are slim so you can have some breathing space in between your clothes. If you are already at this stage then maybe it is time for some beautiful hangers?? HERE are my favorites.
HOW ARE YOUR ACCESSORIES ORGANIZED?
Do you have your necklaces in a drawer that is hard to get to? Or what about your scarves and belts? I believe in the thinking that if you can’t see it, then you won’t wear it. Here are some of my favorite solutions for NECKLACES, and SCARVES and BELTS. Note the acrylic theme here.
EXPRESS YOURSELF
Now that you have your accessories organized, make sure you add a little something to your outfits each time you dress that expresses your personality. Just remember the 2 things I always talk about when styling an outfit:
- Remember the HERO of your outfit
- Remember that accessories can throw your body shape out of balance.
I AM ALL ABOUT SHOES
Truly, when getting dressed I start with the shoes I’m going to wear, after of course I note where I am going and what the weather might be. But to me shoes are such an important styling item and one that sooo many people get wrong. Why don’t you go back into your shoe collection and make sure you love every single one of them and that they are stylish and comfortable. If not, adios.
